Connecting tomorrow’s mobility
Projekt „LösungsWege“
Intermunicipal and regional mobility solutions in Eastern Styria

Eastern Styria lacks continuous mobility chains that are suitable for widespread use, reasonably fast and comfortable. Standard forms of public transport can only meet the geographically and temporally dispersed demand to a limited extent. Poor accessibility of the first and last mile creates excessive dependence on private motorised transport. More and more municipalities recognise the need to act, but flexible forms of mobility and on-demand services – particularly local demand-responsive public transport, electric car sharing, bike sharing and EV charging stations – are currently mostly isolated measures with limited geographic reach.
To change this, LösungsWege will address two mission areas: “Regions: mobilising rural areas and connecting them sustainably” and “Digitalisation: operating infrastructure, mobility and logistics services efficiently and in a climate-friendly way”.
Objectives
LösungsWege supports the development of expertise among a wide range of stakeholders, from municipalities to transport associations, in order to integrate new on-demand services into an overall system for the long term.
Innovative planning tools based on national standards are being developed and implemented for municipalities and regions. These tools make it possible to measure local mobility patterns and show their transport and environmental impacts. This can initiate new intermunicipal and interregional cooperation processes that support the development, implementation and piloting of new integrated, demand-responsive on-demand services.
